Foodsville.com is a website of Applewood Books, Inc. of Carlisle, MA, publishers of America's living past. Since our founding in 1976, Applewood has published over 2,000 works, of which the company has sold over 20 million individual copies. Applewood's mission is to build a picture of human culture through primary sources, to distribute our books widely, and to provide a positive experience for all who come in contact with our company. This mission has led Applewood to publish a wide range of interesting books in our 30-year history.

Our community-based web site, Foodsville.com, was designed to take Applewood's mission, narrow its focus to culinary history, and expand its reach further into the culinary community, where we had already published some of the most important cookbooks and domestic books in America's history. By providing as much primary content as is possible and allowing for a meaningful dialogue by the content's users, Applewood hopes to build an even greater picture of our collective past and an even more robust way for all to enjoy it.
