New Yorkers are as proud of their rich history, as they are of their sports teams.  Long before the G-Men their were the Dutch Settlers. And long before Eli was marching his team down the field, Henri Hudson was sailing his boat up one of New York's longest rivers.

 

So it seems appropriate to pay a little homage to New York's fine history by imagining what the Dutch Settlers of the 1600s might of been snacking on this coming Sunday while they cheered on their New Amsterdam Giants!

 


The Patriots and Giants aren't the only ones putting their game plans together for SuperBowl Sunday.  Fans all over the world are getting their invite lists together, rearranging furniture, buying new TVs and most importantly planning their SuperSunday Menus.

As I was thinking about some of Giada De Laurentiis books and Italian recpies, I was struck by how time and again she stresses cooking with the freshest ingredients and how simplicity can so often be the key to some of the most enjoyable dishes. 

 

So I started to ponder which Bay Area restaurants served some of the freshest and simplest Italian food.  And with that I present you my top three choices:
