Flour Tortillas

Messy to make, but very tasty flour tortillas.

Ingredients

  1. 3 cups flour
  2. 1 teaspoon baking powder
  3. 3/4 teaspoon salt
  4. 3 tablespoon vegtable shortening or oil
  5. 1 cup luke warm water

Steps

  1. Mix flour, baking powder and salt together in mixing bowl. Blend in shortening. Gradually stir in water until crumbly dough forms. Work dough with hands until dough holds together.
  2. Divide dough into 12 equal parts.
  3. Cover. Let stand 15 minutes.
  4. Flatten each part into a 4 inch circle.
  5. Roll into 8 inch circle with rolling pin.
  6. Cook on hot, ungreased griddle.
